Timbavati is one of the best picnic sites in Kruger National Park. It is simple and doesn't have a shop but it is situated in a great game-viewing area and allows you to enjoy being close to nature.

The picnic site is popular with day visitors as well as those lucky folk staying in the park. For day visitors it is easily reached through Orpen Gate. It is a comfortable distance from both Satara and Olifants Camps.

The surrounding area is great for game viewing and Lions and Elephants are seen regularly. Burchell's Zebra and Giraffe are common in the area. The picnic site itslef attracts numerous species of birds as well as squirrels and Bushbuck.

One can hire gas cylinders and "skottels" to cook up a meal and cooldrinks are available from the attendent. There are toilet facilities.
