Hier is 'n paar interessante feite oor sebras

Daar is 3 spesies sebras in die wêreld - die keiserlike sebra, die bontkwagga en die bergkwagga. In Suid-Afrika het ons die die bontkwagga en die bergkwagga sebras.

Elke sebra het 'n unieke streeppatroon!

Die swart en wit strepe word beskou as 'n afskrikmiddel vir bytende vlieë.

Die antieke Grieke en Romeine het die sebra die " hippotigris " genoem, wat vertaal word na "perdetier."

Daar kan na 'n trop sebras verwys word as 'n verblinding van sebras.

Die voorpote is langer as die agterpote.

Sebra vulletjies het bruin strepe wat swart word.

Hulle hoofvoedsel is gras, maar hulle eet soms bas, vrugte en wortels.

Die bontkwagga woon in klein troppe wat deur 'n hings gelei word. Die hingste wat nie hul eie harem het nie, woon in 'n bachelor-trop.

Sebras word hoofsaaklik deur leeus en krokodille gejag. Hulle kan ook deur wildehonde, luiperds en jagluiperds gejag word.

Hulle verdedig hulself deur te skop en byt.

Vroulike sebras gee geboorte aan 1 vul na 'n dragtigheidsperiode van 'n jaar.

'n Vul sal ongeveer 11 maande lank by sy ma soog, alhoewel hulle binne 'n week gras kan eet.
