Pretoriuskop is the oldest camp in the Kruger National Park. It is also unusual in that exotic plants have not been removed against the policy in the park. The camp gets its name from a nearby hill where a Voortrekker by the name of Willem Pretorius is buried.

Pretoriuskop is located near to Numbi Gate and is often used by travellers for the first night of their stay in Kruger Park.

The huts in the camp are arranged in large circles with lawn and large trees in the middle. There is also a caravan and camping site. A number of Impala have made the camp their home and they can be seen wandering between the huts.

Game viewing in the Pretoriuskop can be challenging but you do stand a chance of seeing Sable and White Rhino amongst others. I have found that heading north to the S1 leading from Phabeni Gate can be quite rewarding.

The camp features a natural rock swimming pool, walking trail and the normal restaurant and shop facilities.
