The Wildebeest's Review of SA Country Life Issue 280
Issue 280 of SA Country Life has arrived, and I am trying to figure out where the cover photo was taken without reading the captions. I give up and check the contents page. It turns out to be a photo of Short Street in Riebeek-Kasteel. I haven’t there but the photo looked so familiar...
So, what does this issue have to offer? Of course, there is an article on Riebeek-Kasteel and apparently Elvis is alive and well and living in Storms River Village. I must check that out. Other articles cover the Cape Peninsula, Marievale, Humpback whales and Sedgefield’s seashore nightlife.
I thought that first I would like to check out the claim about Elvis. It turns out that Elvis, and Marilyn, are alive only in spirit. Pity. I must admit that the photography accompanying this article is fantastic.
The article on the Fanie Botha trail was enjoyable and almost made me want to go for a walk. I always enjoy reading the conservation pieces and this month’s piece on the Cape Leopard Trust was very interesting.
I haven’t yet finished reading this magazine. I will leave some for tomorrow.
